Are you looking for experience in nonprofit administration, marketing and communications, or program management? The Athens County Foundation provides a flexible, personalized learning experience for college students in Athens County.

Internship at the Athens County Foundation is Community Work-Study Eligible. Please check with your institution’s financial aid office or work-study program coordinator to verify your eligibility. Otherwise, this position is not compensated.

Internship for Ohio University Students

If you are a student at Ohio University and you qualify for the Federal Community Work-Study program, you may turn your unpaid internship into a Community Work-Study position. To check your eligibility, please contact the Center for Community Engagement at communityengagement@ohio.edu.

Program and Administrative Intern

We are in search of an enthusiastic and dedicated individual(s) who can help in the implementation of the Foundation’s programs. The primary task of this individual is to assist in the planning and coordination of ACF’s programs and events. Based on the student’s interests and career goals, the Foundation can also tailor projects to help the student build their portfolio and work experience.

Interns will work closely work with the Manager of Operations and Special Projects.  We are asking for a minimum of 10 hours per week, and are flexible on what days and times.  Positions can start as early as the student is available and will run through the end of the semester.

JOB DUTIES

Assist in the coordination and implementation of Project Co-Create and other ACF programs
Assistance in planning, coordination, and implementation of events
Customer service
General administrative duties (i.e., database maintenance, filing, etc.)
Assistance in implementing communications strategies including social media management, content creation, and minimal design work
Other duties aligning to student’s learning objectives

QUALIFICATIONS

Genuine interest in learning the nonprofit sector work
Interest in gaining experience in Program Management
Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel)
Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

10-15 hours/week

Leadership Program Intern

The Leadership Intern will assist with the administration and enhancement of the Leadership Athens County program. This role involves coordinating with program participants, aiding in event planning and execution, and supporting the program’s communications and outreach efforts.

Interns will work closely work with the Program Director.  Positions can start as early as the student is available and will run through the end of the semester.

JOB DUTIES

    1. Program Support:
      • Assist with planning, organizing, and executing program.
      • Coordinate logistics for events including venues, materials, and participant engagement.
      • Collect feedback from events to improve future programming.
    2. Communications:
      • Contribute to the creation of newsletters, social media content, and other promotional materials.
      • Maintain the program’s web presence, ensuring content is up-to-date and reflective of current initiatives.
    3. Administrative Duties:
      • Manage participant records and databases.
      • Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Interest in gaining experience in program management and/or group faciliation
    • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Microsoft 365: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Outlook, Mailchimp, Canva)
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Interest in community service, civic engagement, and leadership development.
    • (Preferred but not required) Availability to work in person on the 1st and/or 3rd Thursday of each month

PROJECT HOURS

This internship requires a commitment of up to 10 hours per week for a minimum of one academic semester. The position is Work-Study eligible. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution’s requirements.
