RACIAL EQUITY COALITION SUB-COMMITTEES

Community Health & Wellness Committee – To work collaboratively with health partners in Athens, southeastern Ohio, throughout the state of Ohio and other mirroring communities to address health disparities and challenges experienced by communities of color in Appalachia.
Educational & Cultural Development Committee – To work collaboratively with the Athens City School District and other educational entities to educate on historical implications of systemic racism, bias, and anti-blackness in America.
Social & Community Engagement Committee – To work collaboratively across sectors in the Athens community to foster inclusion through cultural and intercultural social activities.
Law, Justice & Safety Committee – To work collaboratively with the Athens and OU Police to proactively address race relations, bias, injustices and barriers with people of color that will promote healing and racial reconciliation locally and nationally within our diverse community.
Business & Economic Development Committee* – To work collaboratively with the city, local, and minority-owned businesses to address economic barriers, policies and practices that negatively affect the local workforce and livelihood for people of color.
Housing & Community Development Committee* – To work collaboratively with local and statewide organizations to address inequitable housing, renting and lending practices locally that have historically affected communities of color.
Arts & Culture Committee* –To work collaboratively with the city and local community organizations to promote cultural heritage and social justice by elevating the voices of people of color through art.
City & Community Engagement* – To work collaboratively with the City, Major and local communities of Athens to address racial disparities, barriers and challenges for people of color across sectors within Athens.
